Over-developed or enlarged breasts in men are often monitored. Between the age of 16-18 years this breast size should decline. But sometimes it does not decline after the adulthood and remains permanent. The result is that a woman breast appearance occurs by men.
Patients may feel uncomfortable while enjoying the beach at the summer or wearing t-shirts. This affects the patient’s social life and success. This problem must be solved.
Gynecomastia Surgery Procedure
- In which cases are male breast reduction surgeries (Gynecomastia) possible?
If the patient doesn’t have any hormonal problems the best therapy will be a surgery. If the examination shows us a enlarged breast size and sagging breasts an operation will be performed. The operation is done after the adulthood. This is equivalent to the age of 16-18 years. - Which are the different degrees of gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is analyzed in 3 degrees.
1.At the first degree only excess breast and fat tissue is monitored without sagging skin.
2.At the second degree excess breast and fat tissue is monitored with low sagging skin.
3.At the third degree excess breast and fat tissue is monitored together with surplus sagging skin. - Is the surgery done under general anesthesia?
Depending on the patient’s condition the surgery can be done under general or local anesthesia, - How long does the operation last? Do I need to stay in hospital?
The operation takes about 45 minutes up to 1 hour . There is no need to stay in the hospital. - Do I need to wear a corset after the operation?
We advise to wear a corset for a 1 week period after the surgery. - Is it very painful?
You may have pain in the first 2-3 hours. We are stopping the pain with strong painkillers. - I’m very afraid of the tampons.
If the patients don’t have any breathing problems and I’m just doing a cosmetic nose operations I don’t use tampons. But if I’m also going to interfere with breathing than I am using the tampons. Tampons are from material which is melting itself inside the nose or from silicon with holes insite so that the patient can breath. In the past to take out the tampons was a nightmare for patients. Even the patients said ‘Doctor, I did not have that much pain during the surgery’. However, this problem is resolved today with the latest developments and the advanced new tampons. Today the patients don’t feel anything most times they are asking ‘Is the tampon out now? - Does it leave a scar?
After the operation there will be two small scars of 1 cm each with time they will adopt with the skin colour and disappear. But by patients with big breast sizes there will be a scar in the shape of a half moon from the nipple downwards which will adopt with the skin colour within 6 months.
